Wind shear as a dangerous fenomenon in aviation
Novozámský, Adam ; Jebáček, Ivo (referee) ; Krška, Karel (advisor)
This thesis is about wind shear and its influence on aviation. There is wide theoretical description of wind shear and it’s implemented into aviation practice. There are also methods of observation, forecasting and reporting, for both pilots and meteorologist described. In this thesis, pilots can find useful recommendations for dealing with wind shear during the flight. Every reader can also read about famous aviation accidents and look at models of weather that caused those accidents. At the end of thesis there are analyses of a rawiosonde measurements related to wind shear reports. This whole thesis is focused on increasing awareness of wind shear in aviation from angle of view of both pilots and aviation meteorologist.
Concept of Love of Plato and Schopenhauer
Najman, Jiří ; Blažková, Miloslava (advisor) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee)
7 Summary This study tries to clarify Schopenhauer's and Plato's philosophy for the purpose of discovering their concepts of love. In both metaphysics the thesis tries to find motives which, as author believes, are still alive although it seems that nowadays are so far away.
Rehabilitation of the sensuous world from the environmental perspective of David Abram.
Slovák, Ľuboš ; Daněk, Tomáš (advisor) ; Jaroš, Filip (referee)
This thesis is an attempt to reflect on the theme of phenomena and sensuous world in the context of environmentalism. It deals with the condemnation of phenomena in the modern era science and especially in the contemporary neo-Darwinian biology, and with various attempts at rehabilitation of sensory perception as a relevant way of relating to the world in biology (Adolf Portmann, Hans Driesch) and philosophy (phenomenology, particularly Maurice Merleau-Ponty). The main subject of the thesis is the eco- phenomenology of David Abram and a comparison of his approach with the one held by contemporary biology. Based on this comparison it is argued in what manner may the thoughts of David Abram, and the effort to rehabilitate phenomena in general, be of benefit to the environmental discourse, particularly in terms of forming an original epistemology and ontology and concerning the ethical motivations. KEYWORDS: Abram, phenomenon, environmentalism, neo-Darwinism, phenomenology, eco-phenomenology
The function of 2'-O-methylated RNA in the context of viral infection
Potužník, Jiří ; Macíčková Cahová, Hana (advisor) ; Forstová, Jitka (referee)
RNA is subject to a wide array of post-transcriptional modifications. 2'-O-methylation is an essential intrinsic modification of RNA. It affects the structure and reactivity of the molecule as well as its function. 2'-O-methylation is highly conserved, present in all three domains of life. Viral RNA uses this modification to mimic the host and evade detection by the immune system. There are two main mechanisms, through which viral 2'-O-methylated RNA does this. The first is evading detection by a pattern recognition receptor form the RIG-I-like receptor family Mda5. Mda5 is capable of detecting unmethylated RNA and recognising it as non-self, thus initiating an immune response. The second mechanism the evasion and restriction of an effector molecule IFIT. IFIT proteins are capable of detecting the absence of 2'-O- methylation on viral RNAs and inhibiting their translation. They do this by interfering with the formation of the ternary complex, an essential member of ribosomal formation. Using viral 2'- O-methylation as a target for therapy, it is possible to develop attenuated vaccines. Keywords: viral RNA, RNA modifications, 2'-O-methylation, Mda5, IFIT, RIG-I-like receptors, epitranscriptomics, WNV, JEV

Kant and Husserl on Transcendental Character of Experience
Trnka, Jakub ; Moural, Josef (advisor) ; Karásek, Jindřich (referee) ; Novotný, Karel (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to examine both Husserl's and Kant's transcendentalism in a way that would avoid the tendency to put the main accent on Husserl, which is an approach common to almost all literature dealing with this topic so far. Since it is for the most part Husserl's own critique of Kant that inspires such ongoing underestimation of Kant in comparison to Husserl, this work focuss on the question of the legitimacy of this critique. The core of the thesis is an original interpretation of Kant's transcendental philosophy which, instead of taking for granted the phenomenological point of view, attempts to describe Kant's philosophical enterprise from its own perspective and in its own right. In its second part, the thesis provides a brief description of how Husserl, starting initially from the position of descriptive psychology, arrives at a transcendental dimension. When so put side by side, it becomes evident that the two transcendental positions are in fact very different. Husserl's critique of Kant then appears as unjustified, even though quite understandable as an attempt to draw back from certain immature motives of his own philosophy.
Philosophy of extreme voluntarism (Schopenhauer) and its influence on later authors (Friedrich Nietzche and Ladislav Klima)
LASTOMIRSKÁ, Jana
The work deals with the extreme voluntarism and his influence on later authors. First, is the work of Schopenhauer explained the concept of the metaphysical will. Here is insights will primarily as a form of objectification and the closest is served objectification of the body, understood as object. In next section, this will monitored in philosophy of Ladislav Klíma and his idea of egodeism. For Klíma however, metaphysical will lose its transcendent ability and insight from a purely subjective point of view. The last part is mentioned Friedrich Nietzsche, whose theory of the will to power and the death of God, could be an inspiration for the Klíma's idea of egodeism.
